Hawk or Dove, Capitalist or Marxist, What do Democrats believe.
Now that Trump has withdrawn Troops from Syria, it is stirring outrage among Democrat Leadership.
On Feb. 1, Trump tweeted: “I inherited a total mess in Syria and Afghanistan, the “Endless Wars” of unlimited spending and death. During my campaign I said, very strongly, that these wars must finally end.
Latest polls reflect around 50 % disagree with Trumps withdraw and over 30% agree with Trump. DEMOCRATS!
“The five other lawmakers who joined Ocasio-Cortez, Sanders and Warren as the first supporters of the “End the Forever War” pledge were: Sen. Jon Tester, D-Mont., Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., and Rep. Mark Pocan, D-Wis……” “…“I pledge to the people of the United States of America…act to bring the Forever War to a responsible and expedient conclusion… “
“The House voted 251 to 170, with 27 Republicans joining all but seven Democrats…Rep. Ro Khanna (Calif.), the Democratic leader in the effort, put it, the vote was a “clear statement from members of Congress on both sides of the aisle that this country is tired of endless wars “
“This decision is a betrayal of our ally in the fight against ISIS and risks American lives,” Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) said in a tweet. “We have a president who is telling our allies and our adversaries that America doesn’t keep her word.”
Actually the answer is which ever way the wind blows, so do the democrat blowhards blow. If you are for peace, and really want to stop endless wars, you should support this policy, regardless of what your opinion of the President is. It’s more important to our future than politics.
The United States has spent EIGHT TRILLION DOLLARS fighting and policing in the Middle East. Thousands of our Great Soldiers have died or been badly wounded. Millions of people have died on the other side. GOING INTO THE MIDDLE EAST IS THE WORST DECISION EVER MADE….. (President Trump)
President Trump ordered 1000 US troops out of Syria in October 2019, and said he was keeping his pledge to end the forever wars in the Mideast. The troops haven’t returned home and are still in the area. If he is truly for peace in the Mideast and to end Forever Wars, then he will prove that when he begins real withdraws out of Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and all Mideastern nations. He should do this quickly. Now. He’s already got the criticism.
When President Johnson (Democrat) ordered the removal of troops from South Vietnam, we deserted our allies. We knew they would be defeated quickly, and the consequences against National and Military Leaders would be severe. It was anything but an orderly withdrawal, it was chaotic. After the collapse of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam war, it has been estimated over 200,000 South Vietnamese were sent to re-education camps and 30,000 were beheaded from a CIA informant list. (Wikipedia)
Thus as America’s dark half of Congress criticizes and morns for the Kurd’s, it is obviously politics, continued since 2016. The dark media has of course followed. The Military-Industrial complex has followed, as we hear from retired Generals and military officers. Congress is certainly being lobbied intensely by Defense Contractors. Our enemies in the Mideast area will try to pull us back into Mideast war; Russia, Iran, ISIS, other Terrorist and other enemies. The fearful Arab nations will also.
Regardless of his actions, President Trump will be severely attacked. Pardon my crudeness but; If President Trump took a dump, Schumer would yell; “Its to little to late, Nancy Pelosi would cry, “what will our allies think of us now”, Reps. Ilhan Omar, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib and Ayanna Pressley, The FOUR will Chorus; “He will leave the area in Chaos. Candidate Joe Biden will promise, “No member in my administration will ever take a dump.” Sanders will say, “taking a dump is a selfish elitist action. Elizabeth Warren will swear, “I have never taken a dump, and give you my word I never will.”
Hatred, war, violence, fear are all hardwired into our Tribal instincts of survival. It takes little effort to call them up, they remain ready to attack anyone or any people who are not in our perceived Tribe. However, Peace, Love, Compassion, Kindness, Altruism; these seem to be not of a natural origin.
Our awareness of them comes suddenly without effort, they just seem to appear in our Consciousness out of the ether or elsewhere. While many species of animals do demonstrate emotions or instinct we would consider as these qualities. However, Humans are the only ones who have built enduring cities, Kingdoms, and Nations. Feeling an affinity for people 1000 miles away. (Except Whales, and who knows about them, they may be gods.)
GOOD AND EVIL
We recall our immediate past of those leaders who personify Good and Evil.
Evil: Pot Poi, Kim Jong-Il, Himmler, Mulrad Sultan, King Leopold, Emperor Hirohito, HRC
Considered Good: Chief Little Raven, Martin Luther King jr., Mother Theresa, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Dalai Lama, Lincoln, Jesus.
We must support any peace initiative. It will be extremely difficult for President Trump to maintain his proclaimed intention to end the Forever wars in the Mideast. The start of peace and the end of peace are often very messy. As I’ve written previously, our culture, glorifies war and violence, We have recently been paying the price for it. For the good of our children, the children of the world, and the future of mankind; We Must Give Peace A Chance.
Peace to you. by Jim Kirk-Wiggins, October 15, 2019. LiberiPress.com
The Kurds have been faithful and resourceful allies in Afghanistan, Northern Iraq, and Syria. Many US Special Forces and Commanders will likely feel wrath at our abandoning the Kurds.
The President’s announcement of bringing home the troops from Syria will undoubtedly leave the Kurds, at Turkey’s “National Interest”, or possibly genocide. However, our longest war in the Mideast, needs a fresh look and hard choices.
This was an editorial by the Washington Post, over a year ago. I was of course suspicious by that alone. However, it appears almost on target.
Before the American revolution the English representatives were hereditary or despotic. Keeping the same elite aristocracy as the major representatives for all the people.
The middle tier, farmers, labors were very under represented. As the cost for a seat in the USA costs $1 million to $10 million. With SUPER PACS and major donations coming from the wealthy Elite. Who through their purse strings actually control congress.
Thus we have the same Oligarchs as pre- revolution England.
Our congress has become so polarized, set in a time loop of continuous, intrigue, looking for corruption everywhere but in their own house. Thus they are polarized, paralyzed, tigers chasing their own tales.
The English and some US constitutional writers, fear of a too powerful executive branch over the legislative branch is a fact, because the legislature is truly the Circus in America’s government, not Donald Trump.
Another similarity with resistance to English rule was perpetual war. The latest period of wars in the Mideast – Desert Storm 1990, Invasion of Afghanistan 2001, Invasion of Iraq 2004. You could say the troops on the ground and terrorism recruiting as a result, has created a 19 year war, unless you consider state sponsored terrorism beginning in 1990. Thus a 30 year war.
As an afterthought, consider reading Jack London’s “Iron Heal” published one 1904. He did write other books than about dogs. “The Call of the Wild “ was likely one of the first books that got me hooked on reading, no matter how much of a juvenile delinquent I became, I always read.
I don’t necessarily agree we need a revolution, but our government needs to be grabbed by the collar and given a good shaking.
The anger, frustration, politicians destabilizing, and the polarization may actually cause a revolution or a period of nationwide violence with devastating results. Someone or some many, need to start showing restraint and consider doing what’s best for all Americans, and our democracy.
As the website name implies, we’re interested in promoting peace. However, I don’t think most Americans are aware how violent oriented we’ve become or think about it.
It’s like the metaphor; “how to boil a frog”. Briefly if you aren’t aware of this story; You put the frog in in pot on the stove in water temperature comfortable for the frog so he doesn’t jump out. Then you slowly raise the temperature so the frog doesn’t notice, next thing you know you have boiled frog.
(This is a metaphor, please for the sake of frogs, don’t do this at home.)
The growth of American violence has increased in the new millennium rapidly. Our early history in the colonial America’s wilderness, Indians, lawlessness, isolation and numerous wars put us on an early violent birth.
America has seemed to accept war routinely, since there has only been 21 years of peace since out beginning.
War has always seemed fearful certainly to our population, but with the threat of thermal nuclear war, the spread of countries with weapons of mass destruction, terrorism, and the apparent unpredictability of some international leaders has turned the water temperature significantly up.
We were soldiers. (Many of us are or have been soldiers or veterans.) LIVING AMERICAN VETERANS 21,065,561 09/30/2017 (VA.GOV 04/19) The projected active duty end strength in the armed forces for FY 2017 was 1,281,900 people, with an additional 801,200 people in the seven reserve components. (GOOGLE SEARCH PAGE SUMMARY, 05/17)
Military Spending in the United States. In fiscal year 2015, military spending is projected to account for 54 percent of all federal discretionary spending, a total of $598.5 billion. (GOOGLE SEARCH PAGE SUMMARY, 05/17) LIST OF US DEFENSE CONTRACTORS
The above data isn’t intended to complain about our priorities, but rather to see what Americans have come to accept as the status quo, and how many Americans have been directly touched by the violence of war.
(Thus increasing our pot temperature. This frog is getting hot.)
But why do Americans accept our leaders war mentality, ok US security mentality, and the lopsided priorities of our tax dollars on the military.
The large number of veterans surely didn’t come back and say; “hot damn, that was fun, war is the bomb.” Some did, but I think most believe they served their country honorably, and war is not a good thing. I salute veterans,
I am a Vietnam veteran, and I’m proud of our veterans and soldiers. Yet, I believe war is not a good thing. Yet we keep repeating it. Remember 93% of the time since America’s birth we’ve been at some form of war.
Not all were large conflicts, look at the link above. One thing that stood out to me, was the years we were at war or invaded Mexico since 1846 was 35 years. Wow, they should maybe consider building that wall for their protection.
PREPARING THE NEXT GENERATION FOR WAR As many as 97% of US kids age 12-17 play video games…. More than half of the top 50 video games contain violence. Violent video games have been blamed for school shootings, bullying, and violence towards women. (PROCON.ORG, 06/03/16)
Our Sites New Symbol. It represents Three Circles. Father, Son, Holy Spirit
“a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to
harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited.” (2 Cor. 12, Apostle Paul)
God takes us just as we are, thorns and all. The devil would
hope the thorns in your flesh would discourage you and separate you from God.
But Paul’s reaction;
Boasting in His Weakness
calls his thorn a “weakness”. We all have weaknesses, thorns in our flesh. I
do, and you do. But Christ is always there, Christ said to Paul his grace was
sufficient for you. The power of Christ rest on Paul due to his weakness, so in
this he can boast.
The Strength of Christ Rest on Us
All we require is faith, he is now our High Priest, praying for us, with the power to redeem. When we feel the finger of accusation saying to us “Sinner, you will never overcome your sin.” We are then blessed by the strength of Christ resting upon us, ready to forgive us as we repent. In strength of Christ the chains fall behind us. We are in Christ, we cast our burdens to the Holy Spirit. “faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.(Mt.13:13)
On the Cross Jesus Wore a Crown of Thorns
There lay the source of our Faith, and his strength in our weaknesses. is in the words of Christ, his promises to us. So many wonderful promises of his gifts, forgiveness, new life, intercession. So many, these are where our faith rest, and the source of our victory and joy. On the cross Jesus wore a crown of thorns.
We, as Christians put Christ ahead of politics and the nation we reside in
The New Testament is the covenant made by the blood of Jesus, sacrificed for our sins through eternity. He was the Lamb of God of course his sacrifice was special.
Whoever has faith in the Son of God, and his substitution on the cross for our sins, will know God, be saved from his forever.
Jesus said blessed is the peacemakers, for they will see God. We as Christians are called to be peacemakers, peaceful, and non- violent. We should all be pacifist if we are Christians. Persons who gave their life in any war, veterans, and current military are not guilty.
Why, because the church has been an arm of government since Constantine in 300AD. He stopped persecutions, and torture of Christians, that was horrific for 300 years. He also claimed he had a vision of a cross on a shield and he became a Christian.
The Church was loosely organized with mostly autonomy, worshipping in small groups, collectively. There were Bishop, not like today’s Bishops, they cleared up disputes, and gave their opinion as a brother and Christian love.
Many of the most influential Bishops were so thankful for Constantine’s end to Christian persecution they so much was tired of hiding and wanted to believe. Even attributing Constantine as a hand of God. He was not of God.
Constantine made it clear to some Romans, his job and the legions was to conquer land. Not hold it He wanted an Imperial Church that could win hearts and minds. Who could convince the conquered that God was on the side of the benevolent Romans. Churches and forced conversions, pagan gods had all statues destroyed.
Constantine, through his Bishops, called a Nicene conference, who decided, and authorized Church Doctrines, and began the process of approving which scripture was of God. Many in the east, west, and South disagreed on some decisions with their lives. The Christian Bishops who attended the Nicene councils were A large minority of the worldwide Christians and their Bishops.
The council sent their manuscripts, approved teachings, organization authority throughout all the Christian lands. Constantine enforced 100% compliance, or excommunication which meant prison or death.
Church and State were a partnership until today. Just War theory of Augustine was from a previous Greek philosopher, who was friendly with Constantine.
Christians you are not of this world, separate your loyalty and love that belongs to Christ, not your nation. Live and worship as the early church did prior to hoodwinking by Rome and the now official Imperial Church. Set your self free, learn what a real Christian believes from the New Testament.
Sorry this is long and one post, there is a reason. Below is a portion of the letter to Diognetus, which tells what the Church was like prior to its almost destruction.
God Bless the Revival of the Church of Jesus Christ and the mighty ones who give all for its resurrection. Peace in Christ, James Kirk Wiggins. Aug. 2019.
The letter to Diognetus (in brief)
Christians are not distinguished from other men by country, language, nor by the customs which they observe. They do not inhabit cities of their own, use a particular way of speaking, nor lead a life marked out by any curiosity. The course of conduct they follow has not been devised by the speculation and deliberation of inquisitive men. The do not, like some, proclaim themselves the advocates of merely human doctrines.
Instead, they inhabit both Greek and barbarian cities, however things have fallen to each of them. And it is while following the customs of the natives in clothing, food, and the rest of ordinary life that they display to us their wonderful and admittedly striking way of life.
They live in their own countries, but they do so as those who are just passing through. As citizens they participate in everything with others, yet they endure everything as if they were foreigners. Every foreign land is like their homeland to them, and every land of their birth is like a land of strangers.
They marry, like everyone else, and they have children, but they do not destroy their offspring.
They share a common table, but not a common bed.
They exist in the flesh, but they do not live by the flesh. They pass their days on earth, but they are citizens of heaven. They obey the prescribed laws, all the while surpassing the laws by their lives.
They love all men and are persecuted by all. They are unknown and condemned. They are put to death and restored to life.
They are poor, yet make many rich. They lack everything, yet they overflow in everything.
They are dishonored, and yet in their very dishonor they are glorified; they are spoken ill of and yet are justified; they are reviled but bless; they are insulted and repay the insult with honor; they do good, yet are punished as evildoers; when punished, they rejoice as if raised from the dead. They are assailed by the Jews as barbarians; they are persecuted by the Greeks; yet those who hate them are unable to give any reason for their hatred.
“I give you the gift of peace. In the same way the
Father sent Me, I am now sending you.” (john 20,21)
“But I tell
you who hear me: Love your
enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray
for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him
the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop
him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs
to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.”
12:17-18 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the
sight of all men. If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with
admonished that Christians, “by divine edict, have no choice but to
subject themselves to their political masters and [should] seek to ensure that
they execute their war-fighting duty as justly as possible.”[
Who’s Prayers Does The God of Abraham Hear?
James 1:27 “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”
Blessed Are The Peacemakers, For They Will See God
As a New Testament Christian, I don’t use quotes in the Old Testament on violence and war. We are free of the law and prophets by the grace of Jesus. (See Hebrews)
All was fulfilled when Jesus died for our sins. We are under a New covenant.
